The Compromised Church

The world tells us to follow our heart, but God tells us to follow His Word.  The world tells us to chase our dreams, but God's Word tells us to seek the Lord, to seek righteousness and to seek humility (Zeph 2:3).  Far too many of God's people have compromised their salvation by making compromises with the world.  We seek the things that make us happy, rather than the things that make God happy.  We have bought into the lie that God wants us to be happy.  We have bought into the lie that we deserve happiness.  God cares less about our happiness than He does about our salvation, obedience and holiness.  True that.  Scripture says that there is only one thing we actually deserve, and that is death.  Harsh?  Yes.  But I'm not talking to the people that are offended by what I'm saying, I'm talking to the people that are convicted.

"Christian" means "Christ-like".  But the "Christian" church has become the "compromised" church.  We are fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals, liars, thieves, coveters and idolaters.  We are prideful, prejudiced, lustful, greedy, materialistic, gluttonous and lukewarm.   Our love has grown cold and our ears deaf.  We have seared our consciences with our own personal justifications for our sins, rather than softened our hearts with genuine repentance.

What does God do with such a church?  "..because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.  Because you say, 'I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,' and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked" (Rev 3:16,17).
